You need to tell Lilypond
It appears that 2.11 leaves has minimum space after a barline, allowing
the first note of a measure to be set closer to the barline than in 2.10.
In my case this makes the beginning of some measures look crammed
against the barline, especially where lyrics are also involved.

Ok, I was convinced that some reorg was better.

Take a look at it and let me know what you think. Docs in the usual GDP

Howdy!
I have refered to the program reference and have been unable to find a
property that controls the minimum amount of space after a barline.
I tried kern, thin-kern and space-alist (all of it, changing only
first-note fixed-space), but to no avail.
Any suggestions?

Hi Wilbert,
But will the dynamics work on the midi output of the left hand?
Well, I was just talking about the LOOK of the engraved score...

Hi Wilbert,
Just a question to improve my Lily understanding: Can this also be
written as:
\override BarLine #'space-alist #'next-note #'semi-fixed-space = 1.2
I'm not sure... there are several analogous shortcuts for other
constructs, but I don't know if it works here.
Hopefully someone

If you put the dynamics "in-line" in the treble staff music, then
simply use \dynamicDown to force the dynamics to appear below the
upper staff (and

Err, sorry, I should clarify that this "online" is the 1980s definition
of "online" -- meaning "as part of the program". Think of the
"tutorials" in many computer games.
Hi,
At the end of my piece, the last staff has two bars (measures). With:
ragged-right = ##f
The 2 measures are too STRETCHED out. With:
ragged-right = ##t
The 2 measures are too CLOSE together.
I don't really want proportional spacing. And I'm sure there's a simple way
to do this, but I

I tried with it as well, but I can't say it works.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that you can include lily files
in other lily files. What I am hoping to do is divide a chorale
piece into four files one for each part, so that when I am working on
a part I can run that part only. I'm just trying to speed up the run
process.

ragged-last-bottom = ##t
Would that make a difference?
