Hallo all,
Preparing some Christmas music (see below or attachment), I saw that the
first syllables in the final system are left-aligned rather than centred
below the note as they should be.
Does anyone know what causes this?
(Previous versions of LP yield the same result.)

There is quite an extensive section on 'outside-staff-priority
in the 2.11 Learning Manual which explains why this doesn't work
and what needs to be done to fix it. See LM 4.4.3.

Hallo Johan,
Apparently, this is what happens when lyrics are aligned to slurred
notes. After all, if a slur spans several notes, it is better to have
the syllable on the first note and not centered under the slur.
Imagine the slur spans 20 notes...
So I think this is intentional.
Well done,

It seems that make-center*-markup only sets the correct extents to the right,
but not to the left (which is apparently set to 0...).
but you can probably work around it by
setting X-offset manually.
Try this:

It's actually not a problem of spacing between the clef and the time
signature, but rather a problem with make-center-column-markup, which ignores
the left extents. for example, it also breaks for 2/4 + (2+3)/8. The second
fraction will overlap

Sorry, this should read: each column is aligned to the centre of the
previous column.

If you used a \score { ... }, did you include a \layout { ...} as

Not exactly true! You have to include a \layout block if you have a
\midi block, but not otherwise.

Hi guys,
What about piano centered dynamics? Has there been any development in the
past months about this imho very essential feature of lilypond? Is there
already a totally new version from scratch planned?
What's the best workaround for now to produce a decent piano score (e.g.

I did take a short look at kdelily (or was it lilykde ?) and
jedit/lilypondtool. I was impressed at first sight, but in the end I
liked my own fast and lightweight approach better.
Lightweight? In what sense?
With jedit/lilypondtool you surely need to install Java, Jedit
Lilypondtool
and then
(again after a variable wait sometimes rather long) finally shows the
output.
It may happen because of some jpedal or lilypondtool bug (we do some
administration work upon loading the file).
Could you send me a lilypond and pdf file to let me try whether it still
happens on my
