I've noticed that I don't have the most recent stable version of
Lilypond, and would like to install 2.18.2 to see if some issues I'm
having are resolved. The instructions on lilypond.org suggest installing
with:
sh lilypond-2.18.2-1.linux-64.sh
When I type this, though, I'm told,

Ok sorry, this is what I am using to put additional stanzas under my music. I
was wondering what I need to add to get the additional space after the music
and between the stanzas without being criticized for putting too much code in
my question.

Hi,
I'm working on a piece with a lot accelerando and ritardando spanners.
I've built my own accelerando and ritardando spanners using text spanners.
Here's a more-or-less stripped down example that works pretty well:

Oops. I have so many files open that in spite of my efforts to keep
everything straight and send the correct one I still sent the wrong
one. Anyway, as I mentioned in my previous email I found the solution
to the problem.

Hey all, problem solved! While skimming the Notation Reference manual
I found the \remove "Forbid_line_break_engraver" command which fixes
the problem and makes everything else look nicer.

How can I add horizontal space both after the music and after each stanza. My

Hello David,
2.18.2 behaves nicely with this example, though.

Hello all,
I'm developing a program that does various things to sounds including
various ways of creating scores. One of the things intends to produce
simple guitar chords with fret diagrams, chord names, and strumming
patterns by generating a Lilypond file. I'm currently using the

I use musescore to import the MusicXML, make initial corrections, and

Hello Thorsten,
I do this with PhotoScore Ultimate (either scanning or reading a PDF file),
fixing what needs to be for the score to be correct in terms of bars contents,
and then export to MusicXML.
The resulting file is then translated to LP with musicxml2ly.
Have compared that with Finale’s
It looks like SmartScore will scan sheet music and turn it into a MIDI file
for $50 USD. From there you could use midi2ly.

Hi List,
I wonder if anyone discovered a toolchain that would allow to
1. scan sheet-music (e.g. solo transcriptions with many many notes
...)
2. convert the scanner-output to lilypond (maybe via an intermediary
format like xml or so)?
and what kind of software they used for it?
