Thanks for the more complete picture. I don't know how you do this in Lilypond, but I think the proper notation is to write two eighth notes and use a dotted tie (indicating that for one verse it's tied (i.e. a quarter note) and for the other verse, it's two separate eighth notes. LK On Thu, Oct
