Hello together, I am fairly new to lilypond, so it might well be that I just got confused in the documentation which I appreciate, but find it sometimes difficult to follow. Hope this question has not been answered a 100 times. When I insert ties or slurs, lilypond places them above or below.

So, using fontforge on Linux to examine Emmentaler, the tab clef is done as a single glyph, like the other clefs, not as a combination of letters. And so it's not really composed of letter glyphs, but it is an artistic creation. Attached is the fontforge font outline window. It's Unicode 0xe08c. A
