What you are seeing in this screenshot is the Phrase Editor which was invoked
from the Sequence Editor. The Sequence Editor is where you get to say which
phrases to glue together, along with a lot of other stuff.

This isn't a problem if you just want to play this one bar, but if you later
want to loop or concatenate then it is a problem.
I've look at all the lilypond MIDI documentation I could find without seeing
anything relevant.
