\override Fingering #'font-size = #2
This made the fingering numbers about four times bigger. So I tried reducing the numbe

Click on an .ly file and do Get Info. You'll see a place where you can change the application that opens the file. Change to the application you like. There is an option to change all files of this kind to that application. Choose that.

You have to do a \partial on the last measure of the first ending.

If somehow you find an answer to this and it doesn't make the list, I wish you'd post it. I can think of a million uses for being able to pass a variable to a function on the fly, and never have figured out how to do it without having a second variable that is ac

In Section 10.5.9 of the manual it suggests:
"To force a new page for a new piece (in a collection of pieces or a piece in
several movements), use breakbefore in the header."
Will that work for you?

You have accidentally dotted the quarter note C in the measure before the turn. That's what's throwing your time off.

On the Mac the new stable version prints in the progress window a bunch of extra
information including paths to just about every file on my computer every time I
"Typeset" a Lilypond file. Is there any way to revert this behavior to just
printing out minimal progress information and error tracing?
