As an alternative solution, is it possible to generate volta brackets as

I just updated to LilyPond 2.18.02 and also installed the LilyJAZZ fonts.
Abraham's documentation on how to install new fonts was a great help.

How do you get LilyPond to display "slash chords" in the chord name? I'm

You can use { \small \flat \small5 } if you want to use the flat symbol
instead of a lowercase b.

When I encounter this situation I use:
\bar ":|"
\grace s16
\bar "|:"
in place of \re[eat volta.
I don't use \unfold so I wonder if the following would work for you:
\bar "||"
\grace s16
\bar "|:"
I'll also try \bar "||:" instead of using \grace.

Why not use an iPhone/iPad app that reads PDF files that LilyPond produces.

I'm using ^\markup \fret-diagram #"w:4;4-o;3-o;2-o;1-3;" but I would like

I tried ^\markup \fret-diagram #"c:4-1-1;4-3;3-2;2-1;1-1;", but it shows

Instead of \fret-diagram #"4-2-2;3-1-1;2-o;1-o;" I would like the equivalent
of \fret-diagram #"4-2-2;3-1-1;2- ;1- ;" where the o does not appear on
