The only workaround I found has formerly be given :
edit /usr/share/texmf/dvips/ec-fonts-mftraced/ec-mftrace.map
and add ".pfa" to each end of line
In other words the line :
ecbx10 EuropeanCM-BoldExtended10
then texhash, and everything should go on the right w
Please search the mailing list archives for details, but if I recall
correctly, there was a problem with certain versions of the
ec-fonts-mftrace package.
