Hi,
At the moment, I'm using Lilypond to transcribe some handwritten arrangements
to clearly readable sheets of music for the choir I'm singing in.
The satb.ly template is a good start for that.
Support from the mailing list has also been great so far!
Question: does anybody have successfully used
Clearly, Lilypond is a winner in the
highland-pipers-in-the-Pacific-Northwest market - I play with the Washington
Scottish Pipe Band.
All of my Lilypond use has been for my choir (the OK Chorale), though.

4 main uses for me:
- typesetting old scores (mostly 18th c.) to make them free via Mutopia.
- Quick transcription of parts, for personal use (like alto -> G_8 clef)
- Writing down some original music on paper (so far, it has mostly been songs
from a Jewish folk music band I'm playing in)

Hello Aaron,
I created a very nice score and parts of a symphonie of Sir William
Herschel for my chamber orchestra using lilypond.
Some years ago, I worked with Finale, but I think lilypond is better.
Kind regards,

I'm using Lily for retyping from older scores or handwritings. Mostly, I
only arrange stuff for my choir, but I also compose scores on my own (in

For myself, composing mainly; also, some arranging. For a couple of
colleagues, typesetting pieces for which they have only handwritten
originals - some of it much too hard on the eyes!
