Have you tried the debian package of ec-fonts-mftraced

mailing list archives, you will find a number of emails
from Debian users who have managed to solve the same
problem successfully

You'll have to ask Debian (or more precisely, the Debian
package maintainer) about that. Have you tried using

Maybe the information in

Hi,
Mats... I think the fonts are installed as properly as can be in linux.
I did a 'dpkg-reconfigure ec-fonts-mftraced' and then ran 'texhash' for
good measure. All went fine. I still need to NOT specify the .map file
to have success. If I specify the map file, my o

Maybe it's easier for people on the list to answer your question if
you tell what system you actually are using.

I think we have solved the problem! Did you compile LilyPond yourself
or did you install from an RPM?
If you compiled it yourself, the problem is that you have copied the
file buildscripts/lilypond-profile.sh instead of the correct one:
buildscripts/out/lilypond-profile
to /etc/profile.d/lilypond.s
You didn't say what the command
printenv TEXMF
returns, which I think is the most critical issue.

As a follow-up to the Gentoo compilation issues, I successfully
installed Lilypond 2.5.2 with documentation after upgrading imagemagick

platform; further issues may exist on other platforms.

Hello all,
I too am a Gentoo user, currently using Lilypond 2.5.2. I had no
trouble building ec-fonts-mftraced, but I was unable to build the
Lilypond documentation. Both these problems are already entered into
Gentoo's bugzilla but no new activity has been entered on the bug in a

Today I successfully emerged Lilypond 2.4.2 on two Gentoo boxen, and
the (recently added) ebuild for ec-fonts-mftraced had no problems
whatsoever. Ebuilds for 2.4.2 and 2.5.2 are now in Portage, both masked

as is ec-fonts

Actually, I thought I had tetex installed, but I just now noticed that I
don't. So maybe that's the problem? I'll try compiling ec-fonts-mftraced
again after installing tetex, and report what happens.
FWIW, I "emerged" (installed from source with Gentoo) Lilypond

For a detailed analysis of problems with finding fonts or files you
should say
KPATHSEA_DEBUG=-1 lilypond ... &> lilypond.l
Well now I'm really confused. I'm not really sure what the problem
was before. I've now gotten things to work, without setting TEXMF.
Sorry for all the confusion.

You mentioned in an earlier email that the TEXMF variable (after
sourcing lilypond-profile) was
{/usr/local/coop/share/lilypond/2.4.0,{!!/u/victor/texmf,!!/
Mats, Well, I got things working. It seems that what was necessary,
was for me to put the line
export TEXMF="{$HOME/texmf,/usr/share/texmf}"
in my .bashrc. After I did that, then lilypond could find the ec
fonts in my $HOME/texmf. Now lilypond 2.4.0 seems to work.
Thanks again.

Rename the directory from 'pfa' to 'type1' and rerun texhash.
Unfortunately, some names in the directory structure are fixed,
look in the file pointed out by
kpsewhich texmf.cnf
to learn more.

Hi,
Who created the ec-fonts-mftraces debs in
lilypond.org/download/fonts? Whoever did, I'd like to ask
him/her to continue if there was no particular reason to
drop it. I should have declared a dependency on a new
version, but that's available in rpm only...
