lingo-l Convert characters?

Hi, I need to load an external xml-file that includes special characters using getNetText, but some characters get messed up when loaded into the Shockwave movie. For example the character å becomes ä and ö becomes ö. Is there a way to automatically convert these in Shockwave? Thanks in
