*Xpost* Director Shortcuts Compilation (MIAW xtra version)
I received a complaint that even though the MIAW xtra auto-sized to the
desktop, it could not be resized further. That is now remedied and the
new version replaced the old at:

I know there's a way to find out the shared documents folder. I thought it
was in Buddy, in baSysFolder. I don't see it there, though.
Hi Kerry,
How about:
put baSysFolder("46")

Windows XP/2K is a bit cryptic with the shared documents folder. If you
check it with Windows Explorer it's named "shared documents", but if you
check it from the command console it's just "documents". You can also
confirm this by checking properties on any sub-directory within shared
documents.
The DirectOS Xtra can also retrieve the shared documents folder.
dosGetSpecialFolder("common documents").

Buddy API baSysFolder() does a great deal more than the docs say. Maybe
a search of direct-l will find what you need, or a search of the buddy
api forum.

Hi Kerry
Does anybody know how to get the user's time zone setting?
Never used this function before, but DirectOS from DirectXtras has a
dosGetSystemTimeZone() fucntion that should do the job.

There's

I know I've used it in other projects. Is it in DirectOS, or another Xtra?

Does anybody know how to get the user's time zone setting? I know how to
hack it--I can get GMT from the Internet, and adjust according to the user's
local time. It would be nice to be able to get the time zone directly,
though.

To my knowledge this also applies to other plugins. Not sure about flash,
but QuickTime certainly, so we can hope that Apple might see it as
something of a priority to fix it.
