Answer 1 - Check the Printomatic website to see if it has been updated to
run on OSX. Many xtras have yet to be carbonized.
Answer 2 - Try the DirectEmail xtra from www.directxtras.com.
Answer 3 - I think the DirectConnection xtra lets you check the status of

Hi!
The easiest thing would be to traverse the list line by line and add the
lines to the text member. This way you can format the contents anyway you
want.
Hope this helps.

Hello all,
I'm trying to display french, german and greek characters in the same
director field and the application has to play in Windows and Mac.
I have the text in Microsoft Word(Windows) and it looks fine(using the Arial
Unicode font),
but when i import it in Director it's giving me problems.
Thanks for an advice, thought I found another way around. I copy-pasted the
text from message window to Word and removed all the line breaks. It's not a
perfect one, but it's a solution anyway..

Jussi

Hi!
The easiest way to do this is to embed the fonts and copy paste the text
from word into the Director Text cast member. You will need to reset the
font to the embedded font.
It works fineI used this mtd to package content in japanese as well as
local indian languages.

Thanks for the reply.
But i've already done this and the problem is that when i import the font,
copy paste the text ane reset to the embedded font then some characters are
changed in other wrong
characters. It seems like the embedded font does not include all the

Jussi, try this ...

member(myList).text = string(gList)
put field contents = member(myList).text

Have you thought of using external DVDs?
You can get a DVD that can hook up to a serial port, and control it via the
DirectComm Xtra (available from DirectXtras).
It's tricky but not impossible - done it in a previous incarnation.

Kerry,
I had the same problem and this is how I solved it: In dreamweaver or
any other HTML program create a link that points to Evan's URL... then
open that file in your browser, right click on the link and select save

Has anybody used the MUI Xtra on OSX? I'm trying to port an app I created
on Windows to OSX and the MUI is the only thing not working. The Xtra is
initialized fine and I set up the dialog, but the initialize() and run()
functions don't do anything, as if there's no Xtra really there. It does
I'm pretty impressed with fileIO being able to do this stuff. When I get
my code working I will be happy to share it. I have a parent script
wrapper for fileIO featuring handlers like 'readByte()' 'readCstring()'
and (coming soon with your help) 'readShort()' and 'readLong()'.

Kerry, couple of ways to snag .dir's from a browser (IE 6.0, in this case)
1 - c:\Documents and Settings\_your_user_name_\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files\easingEquations.dir
2 - (a little goofy but...) follow the link, hit reload button, then use
file - save as ...
--mv
PS - very nice
Even easier...
open director, select the open command, hit the internet button on the lower right,
put in the url for the dir, wait a bit... and there you have it open in director just
save
to your hard drive

Make sure you've got the correct Mui Dialog xtra in your Xtras

I had the same problems in 8.5, and I double checked the Xtra version, and
it is the MX xtra. Here's the code I'm using to build the dialog box. It
works fine on Windows:
gMUI=0
gMUI=xtra(MUI).new()
lwindow=gMUI.GetWindowPropList()
lwindow.name=Programs
lwindow.callback=chooseProgramCallback
I forgot to add that gProgramList that's duplicated below is a list of
strings.

Another way to accomplish this is to embed the text in flash

am not sure if Flash 5 supports unicode though.
Have you done that successfully, Anand, with characters beyond the ISO
