You should always be ALLOWED to read the registry, that is, you shouldn't
expect a crash, but I can imagine some scenarios where you might not be
able to successfully get what you want...

2) The value has a security profile that doesn't allow you to read it

Actually I would amend that even more - I forgot about the list
architecture itself. I don't know offhand how it's done, but if you want
to say that it's a doubly-linked list, then you have to add in a few more
longs for pointers foward and back - probably at least another 64 bits, so

You can use the CD Pro Xtra to do this - it'll give you a list of CDs,
including volume name.

I have not heard anything, but I would say it is unlikely. It might be
de-emphasized, if Flash is more popular, but here is my thinking on it:
FLASH REPLACES DIRECTOR
I think this is unlikely. For Director features to be folded into Flash,
that means that Flash now has to support Xtras, and
Since Director originally was a 16-bit app, and 32-bit wasn't introduced
until Director 5, most likely the file format and everything for those was
still 16-bit; there being no practical reason (other than perhaps speed) to
move to 32-bit ints. Also, the speed diff between 16 and 32 would be

Well, you can do small chunks of numbers by co-opting the rgb function, as in:
put rgb("A9")
-- rgb( 0, 0, 169 )
The problem is that when you go over one byte, then you get each byte
individually, and of course, it doesn't go over three bytes total
put rgb("F31AA9")
-- rgb( 243, 2
I've done it so they sync up after the move, but like you I don't know when
a move is initiated (or have the coords while it's in progress). I'm sure
I could do it if I wrote an Xtra for it, but just through Lingo, probably
not, as far as I can tell.

Hi Noelle,
I think when you talk about library palette behaviors meaning you're at an
intermediate level, that probably is more "early intermediate" or "advanced
beginner" for using Director itself, not for Lingo. Using behaviors is
sort of pre-beginner as far as Lingo programming goes.

Do not run those attachments.
Apparently that one sneaked through our filter. I hope I have it fixed now.
