and their are very few cross platform
issues for the final SWF file.
That said, I love the capabilities of Director
and hope it becomes MUCH easier to make
cross-platform movies and projects so I don't
have to move all my development over to Flash.

I would be starting from stitched-together photos, but I assume if I have to I could
move them into a 3D program and map the image onto a sphere there. There are a number
of tools that allow you to stitch a spherically distorted VR panorama with complete
360° images.
