Another rant from a small business that's suffering under Australia's inadequate telecommunications. As usual, Telstra gets the blame, but responsibility lies with government. Somebody really should do a costing on the price of government negligence in this field.

Today is Sunday. Catch up day for my business. Sending out invoices to my clients and paying bills before the end of the month. All typical stuff for a small business.

Starts off that I have a new wireless modem that Telstra's so called help line insists that my BigPond SIM card will not work in my new modem! Marcus Dowling from Rising Connection in Sydney helped me set up the modem and both of us spent over 2 hours with several Telstra tech failures to give up in disgust. Marcus has done dozens of the same thing as this round with no problems. According to Marcus the local tower has been having "issues" for the last few days on 4G and Telstra won't admit it. We decided to wait until the tower problem is resolved before we bleed from our heads from banging on the brick wall!

My other modem which is using a Telstra sim seems to be working ok. At least that's what I thought! 6 bills to pay before I go to bed. That won't take too long. 2 hours later, multiple removing the battery from modem, switching wifi on & off dozens of times and I have managed to pay 2 bills!!!! For F*^K sale TELSTRA!!!! Two weeks ago when the towers went down you oh so generously offered free data for a Sunday. Woo friggin Hoo! I couldn't care about free data but thanks anyway. What I do care about is looking after my clients by being efficient in my business and also looking after my suppliers by paying my bills on time and you just happen to be one of them! Pity that I don't have one of your bills due at the moment!!

I think myself lucky going by others on this site, by having a fairly reliable but all be it horrendously expensive and limited Internet.

It just sucks that Telstra and its representatives just don't give a rats arse when individuals suffer for a service that they have paid for. Somehow I don't think I will get much in the way of compensation. Two business owners at say $200/hour and working on a Sunday it should be at least $400/Hr. For a combined total of 7 hours makes it $1400. That's a bucket load of free data. More than 12 months at 15Gb a month. What's say you come to the party on that on Telstra?

Rant over!!!
