to follow up on my earlier post, turns out that the linux distro in question is for an embedded system, and is built using yocto project -- ironic since i actually teach a course in yocto project. so it may be that this won't be as hard as it seemed and i'm going to offer some advice. however, it's still useful for me to know what sort of local expertise is out there in case i get calls for stuff i don't have time for and just want to pass on to someone else who can do it. sorry for the interruption. rday -- ======================================================================== Robert P.
