I note that you are running an alpha version of Ubuntu with the
proprietary nvidia driver. Have you tried running it with the open
source nv driver? I agree with Mark that changing the driver could mask
the problem if it's hardware, but who knows if the nvidia driver for an
Alpha OS
on in computer science, related fields or
product certifications would be considered an asset
