This has bitten me lately too. Tangentially, I am sometimes able to shrink pdf's with shrinkpdf, but it is not 100%. But that doesn't solve the password issue, which is, I fear, an attempt by Adobe to seize a part of the common pasture by unilaterally putting up fences. JN On 14-02-26 07:51

Hi Charles, Not sure if it is something that would suit - but Chrome has it's own built in PDF reader which I have used in the past by browsing the file system with it. eg: On windows I would browse to file:///C:/Users/Mark/Downloads/ and open the PDF from there. (You could also try doing

A web site that I often visit to get technical information has started to use ADOBE 10 to compress the Scans of Manuals that they sell. OCULAR asks for a password for these documents and then says it can't open them. The Fellow behind the web site of course does not understand why I just
