FYI, my patches to make the Kaffe Java implementation run on Linux/390 have
finally been picked up. What the heck, it's only been two years and an
entire job since then :-)

Dave,
I would doubt it. From what I can tell, the concerns Red Hat has with LVM
is unrelated to the kernel level. I would recommend going with the software
RAID0 for now.

Dave, We are piloting SuSe SLES7 and Oracle 9i on a 9672-R46 (1 IFL), 1GB

Adam,
Don't see your problem but we use a mix of z/OS and Linux (SuSE 2.4.17) so
can't exactly match your config.
A few basic questions:
The Linux guest that "owns" the OSA - does this mean the OSA is not shared
at all, and/or have you defined it as PRI router?

I would also suggest that you have the CE power the Shark off and then

James,
I have found that shutting down all processes on the mainframe while IBM
updates the microcode is the smart choice, less chance of a problem. I also
require that the CE stays on site while I bring all of the systems back up.

I would take my Linux/390 systems down. If I had the opportunity, I would
leave up a Linux/390 system that I didn't really care about, so I could see
what happens, for future reference.

IBM is going to apply some microcode changes to our shark dasd box in order

Is linux capable of surviving that process or am I going to get mangled?
