Jim,
thanks for the information. The company in question was ah.. "somewhat
disappointed" that their favourite application would not run à la 64 on the
z800 (z/VM 4.3, SLES8). I hope this happens soon, as they are a recent
convert to the "way things should be done" - excuse the plug.

IBM plans to offer a 64-bit DB2 for Linux on zSeries. I can't say when
this is coming, but it is a priority for us.

It's a spoof, but it's a plausible enough one to make one think about what
the toy companies COULD do if motivated...

Technically, the answer is yes, it does work. As far as I know, IBM has not
yet publically announced that they have certified WAS4 for SLES8, only
SLES7.
We're currently doing a SLES 8 evaluation, and I've installed SP2. I
understand SP3 is due out before too long, and some members here are in
beta testing. Is there a publicly available list somewhere of versions
of the software provided by the service pack? Most specifically, I'm

It's certainly not free, you have to be licensed for it. When the CD's come, you
should have them for all platforms including Linux for S/390.
There is a trial available and the web site should be in the archives.

Application Server for Linux for S/390 and zSeries'.

I don't think so. I think that is IBM's "new" name for MQSeries. At least it
is on my z/OS order.
