readme that instructs you to merge all CDs into a single directory. The
release notes indicate that you copy CD1 to sles9-s390/CD1

As Jim pointed out, cpint is only useful on z/VM systems. Still, that
should not cause modprobe to hang (I would think). I haven't looked at the
source code to see if the module even cares if it is running on z/VM or not.
