Make sure your initrd has the DIAG support module being loaded at IPL
time. If you want to make your life a little easier, make sure to
remove the FBA module. Then you won't need to play games with kernel
parms, etc.

Yes. For example, on an SP2 system created in the directory /sles9root:
# cd /sles9root
# ln -s sp2-9/CD1/driverupdate
# ln -s sp2-9/CD1/linux
(An ln -s command with just one arg will use the same file/dir
David's response about firewall rules is definitely worth looking into,
particularly since the IP address of your Linux/390 guest is different from any
of the other systems you've tried to reach the FTP server with.
The second note is that the path to the installation files on your FTP server

Smells like a firewall problem -- are you sure that the FTP ports are open
all the way to your FTP server? A firewall might pass ICMP (ping), but block
higher level protocols.

I have compiled DIAG in the kernel, and have modified ZIPL with the
'dasd=300,301(diag)' statement, and system would not boot. It gave me some
message about not finding 301 or something like that. Anyway I took the
'dasd' statement out, and rebooted. I then try to manually switch dasd 301

Greetings - our issue is very similar to one posed by John Bohnsack back in Feb
05.
Simply put, we've been trying to persuade our SLES9 guest to see our FTP
server. We have an OSA Express card attached to the guest, and we fall down
through the SLES9 installation script, only to have our FTP s
Neale Ferguson has uploaded a new version of CPINT for the Linux 2.6
kernel to the linuxvm.org web site.
This release:
- Uses a dynamically allocated device major number
- Has a hotplug agent that gets invoked to defined and delete devices in
/dev (no need to predefine them anymore)
- Fixes a bug

Well in a z/OS environment are you likely to get ebcdic/ascii translation

I can say I'd be worried about the copy process to/from z/os not z/os in
