Thank you for you replies. Here is what I did: 1 - I ran this command on each SuSe9 Linux: sysctl -w kernel.hz_timer=0. This removed them from constantly sitting in Q3; they popped in and outof Q1 and Q2. 2 - I reduced the size of each linux on the system. 3 - I stopped any Linux instance

Yes, I know the files are in ASCII - I did that intentionally because all of the Linux install documentation says to use a Windows or Linux FTP server (or SMB server) , but I wanted to try to install from my z/OS file server. I don't _know_ what Yast does under the covers to read the
