Hallo Floyd,
On s390 we have standalone dump tools instead of the Kdump mechanism
used on other architectures. The tools are described in the "Using the
dump tools" book that you already have mentioned. Normally people use
DASD dump for FICON disks and zfcpdump for SCSI. VMDUMP with
"vmconvert" (o
According to my BL guys, 7.6 and up support RH and he thought SUSE as
well.

We had to make small tweak to a script, result works fine.
However, I'm not sure of the timing for official support.

I was curious if anyone had any information on configuring a kernel core
dump capture on zLinux (SLES 10)? Based on my research so far, Novell's
standard configuration method only applies to SLES 10/SLED 10 on the
x86, PPC64, and IA-64 architecture, as noted below:

We're waiting for it too. Supposedly the version that supported z was

Greetings, I have been searching BMC's site and could find an answer to
'does BMC certify their BladeLogic suite on zLinux?' Would anyone on
the Listserv know?

Hi all,
Thank you for your replies. I think it is clear now that the Sun 3510 FC 'JBOD'
box cannot work with zseries FCP (the JBOD version has no controller so it is
just an FC-AL string). A standard 3510 may work. Looking at other posts I see
that some of the Clariion devices do work although
The issue is not technical, it is a business issue.
The traditional method of z/VM maint is to bring up the new release as a
guest under the current release. Migrate all of the guests on the
current release to the new release, and shut down the "old release".
This will promote the "new release" to
Y'all have convinced me, or should I say, have enabled me to proceed as
desired. ;-) No immediate guffaws at the idea is good enough for me.
Thanks much,

I think there is a more z/VM related issue: master-only work. One lpar
obviously has one master. By the time you get to the large lpars contemplated
for this thread contention for the master may become a problem. But then I have
no real knowledge of this. Probably more something for Barton and R
