Been running in PROD since 2007.
Works great, performs well and integrates with GRID tools... 11R2 due out soon.

Afternoon,
A fairly new linux admin here.
I am running SLES 11 SP 1. I activated an FTP server, and I can sign on
successfully, using my 'user' id, using the same credentials that I use to sign
on to the SLES 11 system.
But other users can't sign on. When they try to sign on, they recei
Hi, Donald.
Yeah, it's a cool thing to do, alright. Go with the LDAP-RACF approach
Alan and others have mentioned already, if you're already running RACF.
If you're not, there are other ways to get PAM on zLinux to authenticate
against CMS user ids, and passwords. I can send you more information o
Hi Dean,
I have those files, it's for RHEL5, but you can get some ideas:
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE=eth0
ARP=yes
OPTIONS="layer2=1"
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR=0.0.0.0
NETTYPE=qeth
ONBOOT=yes
SUBCHANNELS=0.0.1000,0.0.1001,0.0.1002
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.807

Yes, using the LDAP support in z/VM, PAM can authenticate against RACF.
See various articles in zJournal and doc in the z/VM library and Redbooks.

I have one mostly complete, but it's not free.
Without that, you can probably do it with
To some extent these may or may not be "gotcha's".

Before I go off to investigate what it would take to write one... is there
already a PAM module for zLinux that will accept a userid/password and

For example...
I have zLinux (RHEL) running on lpar VMA.
I also have a bunch of CMS users on VMA.

I need to put a VLAN tag in suse linxu 10.3. I have found how to do it
dynamically, but where can I add it permanently? Ifcfg-qeth in
/etc/sysconfig/network? Can I do it in yast?
We have three vlans running inside a zvm.
Thanks!

Sorry to bring up something that is not related to System z, but we are
stumped and I hope someone on this list might have some helpful information.
We have RHEL 5 running on a p550 in several LPARs. The LUNs for these systems
reside on a storage device that is going away, so I'm moving them to a

just to put together some informations when we talk about 'Clear Key'

In general following is necessary to know about the different crypto

Does anyone have any documentation on how to migrate from SP2 to SP3. This
is an IBM internal site and I only have the iso DVD image files for SP3.

Me as well. We are in the process of making EMC CLARiiON work with
multipathing and zFCP. We can't move forward with database development
until we get multipathing working correctly, but we could greatly
benefit from experiences with Oracle on z.
