'Output data' ??
Do you mean something analogous to a printed report? That is, an app runs on
Linux that does some manipulation of DB2 data on that Linux, generates a report
and that report needs to get to z/OS to be included in z/OS processing?
Or am I completely off base?
Because if tha
Hi Marcy,
I've built it as an rpm for s390x for 11SP2 and it build cleanly without
problems. I just need to sign them properly so people can verify they are not
tampered with and a place to get them publicly accessable.
Cheers,

Thanks for the plug John.
I'll also point out that if you are using Co:Z Launcher to pipe data
between Linux files/applications and z/OS that you also have the option to
send the data over a raw socket rather than within the ssh connection. If
you have a secure network, like hipersockets between
Wow John, thanks for the lengthy reply. I appreciate it. It's guys like you
that help us little twits get over the bumps in the road. :)

Chaps,
This is what DB2 Commect is for - doesn't matter where the Linux is running z,
p or x versions available! Then keep your DB2 data in z/OS.

Make use of the work others have done. Download the SRPM from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/12.2/standard/src/mt
I am having a problem compiling it (suse 11.2). if you get a working copy, I
would like one too.

I'm interested in dealings with and advice for dealing with IT auditors,

You sure can share the data. Perhaps the simplest way is to use NFS. I have
successfully done a MOUNT of a Linux subdirectory on a z/OS system. Now, it can
get a bit "hairy" to do it correctly. First, you must use NFS on the Linux
system to "export" the subdirectory. You must be running the NFS

Have you tried setting qdio qioassist off for the Linux machine in question?
This will probably get you up and running until you upgrade the kernel. Thank
you.

Ah. I see your point. I'm only on a few Linux instances at present, so one
branch per instance is not a large concern. I may need to rethink if I end up
on a lot of instances. Or I'll just keep most files in a common NFS mounted
subdirectory and use git to source control the contents of that sin

I like the idea of using git to manage your local files. I do the same
thing and use github for my remote repository. My biggest question for you
is how much value do you see in creating a separate branch (really just a
label in git) for each machine you have an account on? If I did that, I

I thought about using rsync. However, rsync simply replaces old versions with
new versions, thus not maintain a set of "fallback" versions. I was thinking
that by using git, I could both have an annotated change control log and a
"remote" backup. Two for the price of one, so to speak.

Suppose I have a "personal" account on multiple Linux instances. Each account
has a HOME subdirectory on a local filesystem. Each system has an NFS mount to
a shared disk. I have a read-write area on that disk. For the sake of argument,
let's say that I access this NFS area via the path /nfs/ser
Hi, Marcy.
The main MTR web site is:

but there does not appear to be a pre-built binary for s390x. Let me see
if I can't built it here on my SLES 112 SP2 guest.
Have a good one, too.
