Agreed, Mauro.
Python is not installed on these zPDT servers. I just used yast and
installed the "thttpd" HTTP server. Once it is installed all you have to
do is start it; no configuration needed.

Running python -m SimpleHTTPServer on the repository directory is enough to
start a webserver, and it installs easily. Ftp is a strange misbehaving
beast sometimes.

What is the driving system, the one zpdt runs under? I tried it under cantos 7
and the problems were iptables (try iptables -F) and setenforce 0.

Working around a problem and not reporting it to get it fixed doesn't help the
rest of the community. I understand the need to get the job done, but please
follow up with a bug

That was the only way I tried to install...burned the ISO to a DVD and
installed from it.
None of the other methods worked for me; didn't have an FTP server I could
access with the ISO, and the HMC DVD drive was the most straightforward, anyway.
The "integrated ASCII console" was ok, but

Hi, Mark.
Here's what appears to be the actual error, from y2log:
File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium
'ftp://ibmsys1@10.0.0.100/%2Fmnt'
Some more background:
Install is on a zPDT system
On the FTP server the file SLE-12-SP2-Server-DVD-s390x-GM-DVD1.iso is
loopback mounted on /mnt

Just curious, but did you consider using the functionality to install from the
HMC DVD reader? If so, why/why not, etc.?

I have with no issues. Other than us getting out of our proxy server to SUSE.
I ended up having to use SMT internally.
Could that be the problem for you?

Had that problem several times while installing 12SP2 into an LPAR. The last
time I tried, it got past all those andstill failed.

Hello, all.
Has anyone here been able to successfully install the latest SuSE SLES
12 SP 2 on z/VM 6.4? I'm trying to do so today, but I'm getting a "can't
create the repository" error during the install process.
Thanks, and have a good one.
