We are running Linux native in an LPAR in cases where precise and
consistent performance measurements are required. When running under zVM,

And I'm up via a Layer 3 VSWITCH, which suits me fine (less tweaking of

It's acting like it does when I forget to add the DEDICATE cards for a
real OSA card, that is, Linux thinks the device is just not there. But CP
seems to think it is.

I've got a similar problem to Dave Jones, converting from real OSA ports
to a Layer 2 VSWITCH. I've successfully done SLES 10 and RHEL 5, but I'm
having trouble with a SLES 11 system on the same VSWITCH.
What do I need to change there?

Also, DNS cacheing on the client will get in the way of this. I have an
app that sends e-mails via a pool
of SMTP servers. When it can't contact the chosen server, the app has to
flush the DNS cache before
trying to send again.

You
might try making 0150 dasda and and 0151 dasdb. And I'm not sure SLES10
will fit in 2311 MB, but you haven't gotten far enough to to trip over
that.
