I don't understand why CODE PAGES would differ
between 32-bit and 64-bit. Can someone enlighten me?
Or is it simply because someone decided to put them in .so?
(Perhaps that wasn't such a good idea? Or is/was there a reason?)

Hi,
to easy find the RPMs in which a file is use the file
ARCHIVES.gz on the first CD. This shows:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:SLES-8-s390x-Int-RC6/CD1> zgrep IBM500 ARCHIVES.gz
./CD1/suse/s390/glibc-32bit-8.1-9.s390.rpm:-rwxr-xr-x root root
8104 Nov 5 21:04 /usr/lib/gconv/IBM500.so
rpm -q -f /usr/lib/gconv/IBM500.so shows
glibc-locale-2.3.3-98.38

I have some users doing development, and they need the 64-bit versions
of IBM500.so, and ISO8859-1.so. Does anyone know what RPM provides
these? These should be located at
/usr/lib64/gconv/IBM500.so
/usr
You are correct:
tux:/usr/lib64/gconv # rpm -q -f ISO8859-1.so
glibc-locale-2.2.5-86

I have some users doing development, and they need the 64-bit versions
of IBM500.so, and ISO8859-1.so. Does anyone know what RPM provides

I think they should be from glibc-locale, but I'd like someone to v
