More information:

When I invoke the graphical version of online update, under the summary
heading,
I see a green checkmark followed by summary information.

Dusting off a few brain cells, I seem to remember this happening
ocassionally for
one or two patches at a time. This system has 27 patches that appear to be
in this state.

Hello listers,

I was in the process of verifying that the proper patches were installed
on a group of servers that were freshly upgraded from SLES10SP3 to
SLES10SP4. When I went into online update, I noticed several patches
that were classified as security or recommended that were not auto
selected. They were for modules that we do have installed.

I was under the impression that security or recommended patches were
automatically selected.

When I go rummage around the YaST documentation on the Novell site, it
seems to indicate that the actions for security and recommended patches
were automatically set.

If I manually select a patch, I get installation finished in the
progress log, but none of the other indiations that a patch is actually
applied (like messages indicating things were being downloaded, or
patches applied.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

Should I manually apply these fixes?

Anybody else run into this problem?

Ron
