having a problem getting the install started.

operations of any sort will be blocked.

I am trying to install the most recent tivoli client (v4.2.0).
I get the dependency error:
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 is needed by TIVsm-API-4.2.0-1
At the console, rpm -ql gppshare

Yes, it works as documented although you should use the DASDtape (disk
emulates tape) approach, and ensure you have defined a high number of
"devices" for that pool.

Yes, it works as documented alt

hasn't changed since the ADSM days).
The important stuff is in the description of DEVTYPE=FILE and
DEVTYPE=DISK options for device class

You need to install the compat-libstdc++ package in order to resolve
that dependancy.
For s390 there is only a compat-libstdc++-2.10.0-1.s390.rpm package
available that provides libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3, but there will be a
compat-libstdc++ package for RHEL3 that provides
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 a

redhat ftp site for taroon/s390 are compat-db and compat-pwdb.
Management does not want to get too in depth with moving sample
workloads to evaluate the new platform without a tivoli client working.

Hmmm, have you tested a restore? I've tried both 5.2.0 and 5.1.6 and on
restores I get:
"dsmc: relocation error: dsmc: undefined symbol: __udiv_w_sdiv" complete
with a 0 byte file created.

Yeah, I see the same error. That stinks, to say the least. I did google
search on the symbol name. I came up with number of hits with Ulrich
Weigand's name on them. :P I don't think this is his fault though, so I'm

If you can get away with not installing the 31bit version, do it. The
fewer distros you have, the less maintenance work you have. Do these
Tivoli things require it?

I have installed ITM Portal using the s390 sh command on RedHat EL4
64-bit with no issues.
If you are installing UDB on the portal, UDB also needs to be installed
in 64-bit tolerance mode.
