Finally, with the latest version 1.19.0-1 of lin_tape, the rmpbuild for creating the binaries from source gives a decent error message. I am running suse sles9 64-bit version 2.6.5.7-314.s390x I need the following packages. kernel-source glibc-devel gcc libstd
