For the WMI: Could acer_wmi be extended for this as Alex suggested ?
Another FSC model is listed in their hw-db.
yes, but rather than extending acer_wmi, it would probably be more

I updated http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9663 with some checked
kernel version:
I checked these builds now:
2.6.23-acpi.git (~ Aug/Sep 07) with _and_ without acpi=off - WORKS
2.6.24-rc6 from git with no cmdline-option - works NOT

I build a snapshot of the acpi.git tree (2.6.23, 21. Okt 07) and had a working
backlight control on my FSC Esprimo V5505.
With a build from mainline (of today) and also from acpi (also of today) the

The Volume-up/down/mute (Fn-F4/F5), the s2ram button (Fn-F12) work.
I switched for some sound testing to the alsa.git branch and now the
backlight keys work. The default openSUSE 10.3 kernel does not work.
There are some other buttons left: Monitor switch, WLAN switch (kills wlan,
but doesn't enable it).
Please correct me: we need to find the scancodes, then
