Does it at all need impulse response convolver as suggested...?
How about just tracking the engine pitch and having
a sampler to do the sound? LinuxSampler for fine details.
The device may be illegal in Europe.

Hallo!
Really?!? You must be joking! Who would do such a thing? ;)
Shit - you got me - I only read this one sentence of the thread ... ;)
However, you won't be able to do that with an impulse response, because
such amplifiers are usually highly nonlinear systems ...
Ah, you're right. But I

Hallo!
Yes, it's completely dumb. Probably next thing will be that someone
might take an impulse response of an old guitar amp and make it into
an application that will make your acoustic guitar sound like they
were played through a Marshall. So silly. ;)
Well, this is not that silly ... lot's

I have invented one of that type too. ;)
The vroombox is not a stupid idea in my opinion.
It is what car customizers and

If you could make cars make /less/ noise (instead of more), then perhaps
there is a valuable patent hidden there somewhere ...

Is this patented? I could not find.
http://www.vroombox.com/vroombox/
I don't know details of them, but I come up
with the idea some years ago --- as to exists as
an open source, free Linux software, naturally.
I even mailed to Blaupunkt and asked if it is ok to
send them suggestions. Because I
