P.S. There's a new version of hdsploader (1.1) for that 0xb firmware
HDSP. I just hacked it in without RPM on my machine. It will get updated
for real at some future date when Planet CCRMA gets new ALSA packages.
1.1 works OK unless you run it twice by accident.

change the settings on my synthesis program so that the keyboard
causes different sounds in performance. This might be not real time CHI.
In general, you will find that the more you move into real time CHI, the
more robust your audio synthesis/production system will be.

I have effectively reduced the weight of my rig from 120 to 2 pounds.
Jack still doesn't work, but I can do pretty much everything in one Pd
process anyway. It's no huge MOTM system, but then again, it's not a
huge MOTM either.
Thank you everyone.

(jfm3
ed) understanding that this can be mitigated somewhat by
using a lower latency (pcmcia) sound card. A curious problem is that
after you run PD a few times, the mixer starts behaving strangely. I now
suspect something is amiss in ALSA.

then audio stops and the system hangs. I need to use sysrq or a power
cycle to restart.
I can send pretty good beer, the alim15x3 patch, and any other clues to
anyone who can help me with this.

IMHO, a fancy GUI for a real time effect like this one is a bit of a
wasted effort. You typically use this thing from your geetar and a pedal
board that sends program change messages. With the PD front end, you can
replace the pedal board with anything, including results of audio
analysis (i.e. "st

I can't get latencytest-0.42 to run on Redhat 7.3. I would like to make
sure that the kernels I've been building are doing what I want. Does
anybody have this working, or are there other audio latency measuring
tools around?

u really need an 8x8 interface
you're probably doing something wrong.
Use less gear and more general purpose computer.

Mine works like a champ. ALSA drivers rock.

/proc/sys/kernel/lowlatency is 1, I checked twice. Things are presently
responsive enough for me to perform with, but I sure would rather be
kicking all those windows boxes on the rme site in the hiney. Thanks
for any help.

I tried compiling and it failed like this:

I will happily run the latest version of the "latencytest sessions" on
my Emperorlinux Mako with low latency kernel 2.4.5. I presently get
around 3ms latency in Pd, and perform with the system regularly.
Where do I get the code for the latency tester?

using setserial to set the UART to go at MIDI speed and setting the
