can you do following changes in your cluster.conf file
and restart the cluster & check
Also capture cman_tool status & paste the /var/log/message

Your server hostname & name you specify in cluster.conf file for cluster
node name should be same.is this 2 value are different.
if values are different make it similar and check.

i have not use multipath on rhel 4.8
but check if is due to max length for device name as in following bugzilla
( following is for rhel 5.0 )

try to assign name which is < 16 in /etc/multipath.conf & check if its
working.
try giving /dev/map
