i installed kaffeine - its able to do auto scan (and claims the card supports
it) so i set it at auto and at 0, +167 and -167 offsets. It displays a signal
strength whether that means anything I dont know because it cant tune to
begin with

Yep works fine under windows XP in Melbourne
Kaffeine on ubuntu appears to pick signals up , but their strength is
very week. Using the Winfast DVB-T card with the same environment
kaffeine picks all 26 channels up no worries

as the demodulator. In newer revisions of those cards, the mt352 was replaced

I have this card and it works under Windows. A scan picked up all channels
and they tune fine

can you test with the unmodified driver, but with the option
saa7146_debug=8 for the saa7146 module? It may be interesting, if the
i2c-interrupt was hit and with what status the interrupt was hit.

I forgot that, when I suffer from a Kernel Panic, and the machine reboots
(I have configured syscntl), next time I try to tune the skystar card,
dvbtune -i returns correctly the T-systems/Eumetcast trasponder but the
dvb?_? don't receive anything. a tcpdump -i dvb0_0 does not catch any packet
