hm, it did not work; neither with the preserve1, preserve2, preserv3-method nor with fdisk. fdisk can align the partitions in the right order, but does not correct the nubers (i.e. i get hde1-hde3-hde4 instead of hde1-hde4-hde3, but not hde1-hde2-hde3 as i want). btw, fai fails also with the
