Yes, I saw that now, but I don't like requiring two softupdates until it
Our code is good when you are using different sources.list files
during installation and after installation. Maybe you do not need this
Hi all,
I finished the cleanup of /etc/fai/*.conf files. A lot of variables
where removed, renamed or now good default values are used, so
normally users do not need to define a lot of them. I hope that this
list of variables is now up to date.
Some of you may have noticed that I started to code for FAI 3. A lot
of things will change, for example renaming of variables but also
additional features will be added.
I like to have more peole helping in reviewing the diffs that I
produce. This helped a lot in the past when I did stupid

Im thinking again of the installserver parameter in /etc/fai/fai.conf .
What does a user think, what is meant by installserver ? dhcp server?
tftp server? server hosting the fai-install-filesystem?

Yep, bootloaders are configured there.
not too nice for softupdates and non-debian distros. Shouldn't there be

We already have a custom kernel for our installed systems. I was

FAI 2.10.5, the do-not-trust-NMU-uploads release has been uploaded.
This fixes buggy patches from the two NMUs (2.10.3 and 2.10.4). It was
really hard work to this at 30 degrees in my office. Not much fun
work.
2.10.5 is the last release that is tested with sarge. From now on we're

task chboot is NOT called before a kernel is installed.

With very new hardware it's often only a missing PCI ID in the kernel
sources. Try lspci and lspci -n to get the device ID of the sata

Right, still it's not in the host system but in the nfsroot where dpkg

And there we have them after debootstrap, or am I thinking in the
wrong direction?
dpkg is also needed
