Ignore previous ls -l, it doesn't make sense... I mean, on nfsroot
vmlinuz exists
and it's correct, on the mirror, where I can find kernel package?

I'll have a look into faireboot if I get the time, but -
it hung the same way just reboot hung (this is 3.4.8ubuntu5 in the trusty
repo)

missing: the use of apt source.list. I read somewhere writed by you Thoomas:
Do not mix /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/fai/apt/sources.list. FAI uses
