3.3.5 packages for Ubuntu.
Please test those packages from the Ubuntu FAI PPA:

Hi Paul,
I don't think it's really an FAI problem, but more a kernel or hardware
problem.
Could you try to install a simple ISO image of Ubuntu Lucid Server flavour?
It would also be a good idea to exchange the boot kernel with the linux-image-

What can be the cause?
1. PXE boot uses the first available NIC from the machine (mostly NIC1 in the
bios settings)
2. Boot Kernel but gets the second NIC for DHCP request udevs numbering of

Hi Juergen,
I have a working lucid setup running without any tweaks of ipconfig...
I wonder if there is something else happening during before or during kernel
dhcp request via ipconfig...
you could try to use debug=1 as kernel append variable to get more info from
the initramfs thingy...

we don't have the problem that ipconfig never time out. It will time
out but without configured network interfaces, which causes a kernel
panic because of the missing
