Is there an online Kernelish-English dictionary anywhere? ;)

Unfortunately not.
At some point, we *really* need to convice {Tejun,Jeff} that libata
messages should be simpler, fewer, and more human readable by default

Translation:
libata reset the link, and everything appeared okay,
so it reissued the failed command and continued.
No data loss.
But why was the port reseted? There was no CRC error as before, was there?
What worries me is that it always happens for the same drive.

Hello Tomasz,
This appears remarkably simelar to what I'm experiencing, altough I'm
getting that on sata ports.
I'm currently at a loss on what caused this, but if there's two of

Lines 33-34 of sata_via.c of 2.6.23-rc3 say:
* To-do list:
* - VT6421 PATA support
Wasn't VT6421 PATA support already added in 2.6.21?

Today at night, I had a serious sata_mv driver failure on one of the
servers.
I tested the drive in question with both smart and badblocks, but none
shown any errors - so my quick conclusion is that something is not right
with the sata_mv driver.
The server has
regressiobs on linux-ide list (at least
when looking at the subjects: lots of patches from you, and two reports
from me).

his patch adds VT6421 PATA support to sata_via.
If we don't want to enable PATA support, nothing is changed in sata_via
driver:
M VIA SATA support
[ ] VT6421 PATA support (HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL)
The patch is based on the patch from VIA, it applies to 2.6.19.
