Wonderful, Jeff! Thanks a lot, now my TX4000 can be used under Linux
just ok! :) Without hacking libata-core.c. So, I suggest you to
include your patch for correct TX4000 work into further kernel
releases.
Now, only two small things disturbs me:
1. My hard drives are now online, but on any other f

Yes, with another hard drive, which is error-free everything works
just fine, with one exception:
libata version 1.11 loaded.
sata_promise version 1.01
PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device :01:0a.0

Look's like I've found solution. I've checked libata_core.c and found
following strings in it (line 1427):
if (sata_dev_present(ap))
ata_port_probe(ap);
else {
sstatus = scr_read(ap, SCR_STATUS);

Yes, you are right, 4xPATA.

I've been googling for a patch and found
Jeff Garzik's patch for this card to support it.
Here's the patch:

I don't get it. There is no mentioning of libata whatsoever!

I have Promise TX4000 4xPATA controller...

Well, dmraid is no use, cause sata_promise.ko doesn't see my hard
drives...Any other ideas? How can I diagnose it?
I only want my sata_promise.ko to see my hard drives...But it only
says "phy "...%(((

You'd better take on step at a time. That is, f
Right, I'd like to do that, but even when no raid is defined in BIOS, Linux
can't see any hard disks on any ports of that card...
I'll check out dmraid today's evening. Thanks for replies.

Even better, forget the whole fake raid from the bios, a
Check out dmraid or dm_raid (not sure which it goes by, in order to
