Hi,
at the Hebrew University we have legato and I am backing up my linux on it
(it has a RH client that can also be installed on SuSE etc.). Backup seems
to work. The only problem is that I have NO IDEA as how to use the plenty
of command line utils included ...
BTW, the linux client should be o

I had no success in any try to get Advice UPS talking to my computer.
Their support doesn't exist, as usual. To add insult to
Shlomo,
The log messages indicate that both the ide-cd and the ide-scsi
drivers were compiled into the kernel.
When both drivers are available to the kernel, a higher priority
is given to the ide-cd driver over the ide-scsi driver, and it
gets to "own" the device.
To solve this, you can either:
Thanks to help from Yoni Elhanani and Oleg Goldshmidt I've compile my
RedHat 6.0 Kernel to include SCSI-ide emulation - first time for a
newbie so thanks for the advice.
But, when I run cdrecord -scanbus I get a message that no targets are
availabel. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here ?

Hi
Once when I still had RH4.0 advice UPS worked fine on it and was able to
shut it down on elec failure.
I don't remember what program I used then.
Any idea ?

If you're looking for a full backup solution (daily backups, indexing,
etc ..), I'd try amanda, at www.amanda.org.
They did a very good job --- especially for multi platform clients.

On the 18/11/99 at 18:00 the Haifa linux club will gather up to a lecture

A Note,
You can use plain old dump - see man dump:
dump backs up all files in filesystem, or files changed
after a certain date, or a specified set of files and
directories, to magnetic tape, diskettes, or files.

You may try Arcserve (although the server is not Unix based) - but it
got Linux client.
Backupexec - same as Arcserve (although I don't trust it as Arcserve).

Hi,
I'm looking for information on backing up multiple linux machines using
one central "backup server". Due to the volume of data, NFS mounting
the file systems and then backing them up as if they were local will NOT
do.
The backup server does not have to be linux (although I would prefer it

Hi All,
Here's a tricky one for your troubled brains :-)

one thing is weird. About a week ago, the following situation evolved by

Hi All,
I would like to inform the members of the list of the upcoming Linux
Installation party in the Technion. The Party will be held on 24/11/1999,
and it will start at around 9:00am till we simply either drop to the

It will be held at the Rifkin Computer
I now managed to get both

to execute without errors.
But

is identical to

What am I missing _now_?
Thanks
