Get yourself a Knoppix 3.3 (or later) CD. Boot from the CD, and use gpart. It's not a graphical interface, as one may think, but a command-line tool that recognizes the partitions on the hard disk. If your partition table is wrecked anyhow, you may use it's feature of setting up the partition t
