First I want to say that printer installation has really improved
since I last got a new printer a few years ago. In fact, I would
even say that installing my new HP 8610 on Mageia and Raspberry PI
(Raspbian) was even faster and easier than on Windows.

But I did encounter something strange on the PI. After installing
system-config-printer and cups, I used the GUI to detect the printer.
The printer was located - including the printer driver, but then I got
an authentication window saying: "privileges are required to
add/remove/edit a remote printer". The pi user and password were not
accepted.

But here's the weird thing - I hit cancel, but the printer was
installed and WORKS PERFECTLY. If I try to edit the printer's
properties, I also get the same authorization message, but again am
able to change properties as needed.
