The diff between the original /etc/X11/xorg.conf and my /etc/X11/xorg.conf is: 53c53,55 < Option "XkbLayout" "us" --- > Option "XkbLayout" "us,il" > Option "XkbVariant" ",si1452" > Option "XkbOptions" "grp:shifts_toggle,grp_led:scroll" The toggling between English and Hebrew keyboards now works (it is what did not work previously). The LED still does not work, but I can manage without this visual indication of current keyboard status. The si1452 Hebrew keyboard worked for me before, and I am used to it.
