Until three or four weeks ago, I have been running kernel 2.4.2 with no
problems. However, my hard disk now seems to be playing up. In my system log, I
get the following messages.

Just wondering whether the VESA framebuffer underwent wholesale changes
between 2.2 and 2.4. I use a graphical console (1024x768 @ 8bit colour
depth), and full-screen scrolling performance is *really* bad. When I type

After compiling the kernel three times, I can't get my SB live to work
under 2.4.0-test9. It doesn't want to work either as a module or
compiled in to the kernel. It's working fine under 2.2.17.
All my programs seem to think that the driver is loaded and working fine
